Daily Tech News & Insights, Every Weekday.

Good morning, tech folks! ☀️

In today’s newsletter, we talk about how Samsung's tri-fold seems to be taking a completely different approach with its cover display positioned in the center section rather than the outer panel like Huawei's designs.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air might lose the thinness battle to Samsung's Galaxy S26 Edge despite Apple's premium positioning, and Sony is preparing a massive 200MP near 1-inch camera sensor for flagship competition.

Here's what you'll discover in today's tech roundup:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold's possibly unique center cover display design may differentiate it from Huawei's Z-style folding approach

Samsung’s long-rumored tri-fold phone is edging closer to reality, and a new leak gives us a clearer idea of how the company plans to set it apart.

Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT or the recently launched Mate XTs, which go for a Z-style layout, Samsung seems to be trying something different with its first triple-folding device.

Shared by leaker @TechHighest on X, official-looking One UI animations show the Galaxy Tri-Fold folding around a central cover display. That means when the device is shut, the usable front screen sits in the middle section instead of on the outermost panel.

With Apple and Samsung preparing their upcoming launches, a fresh leak has added fuel to the rivalry.

This time, it’s all about thinness. Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air is tipped to become the slimmest premium phone ever, but numbers suggest it may not outdo Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge—especially when it comes to battery life.

Sony could soon shake up the high-end smartphone camera game.

A new leak claims that several upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagships — including the “Ultra” models from Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi — are preparing to launch with a 200 MP Sony sensor, setting the stage for serious competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra series.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the sensor in question is the Sony IMX09E.

Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event is set for September 9, 2025, marking one of the most eagerly awaited launches of the year.

During this event, the company will unveil the new iPhone 17 series, which might include a new Air model, along with new Apple Watches, upgraded AirPods, and more.

Apple fans worldwide are invited to watch the company’s highly anticipated new product drop. The event is titled “Awe Dropping” and is set on Tuesday, 9th September 2025 at 1PM ET/10AM PT or 10:30PM IST.

Xiaomi is preparing to roll out its next set of flagships, the Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro, with a global launch confirmed for September 24.

The new lineup follows the 14T series, which also arrived in late September last year, and is expected to bring noticeable upgrades in both hardware and design.

Xiaomi has officially announced the launch date on X but hasn’t yet detailed the full lineup.

Leaks, however, point to two models: the standard Xiaomi 15T and the more premium 15T Pro.
